To All Home Health Clients: Agencies submitting Medicare claims to MACs have been getting rejected due to the presence of Value Code 85 with the FIPS. The FIPS code is a claim requirement for claims with dates of service on or after 1/1/2019. No MAC has at this time confirmed that they are unable to process claims with this new requirement. We recommend for claims with dates of service prior to 1/1/2019 to submit these claims without the FIPS information. For claims with dates of service on or after 1/1/2019, wait until 1/7/19 to allow the MACs time to perform system updates. Then submit 2019 claims with the Value Code 85/FIPS. If the claim rejects, do NOT resubmit without the FIPS. If your claim generated with a 4-digit instead of 5-digit FIPS code (states A-D may be missing leading zero) ensure that version 1.2.8.51 is loaded for your agency. Do not submit any 2019 claims without the FIPS. Upon confirmation of any issues with MACs accepting the 2019 claims with the FIPS, or if a program change is required, you will be informed. |
