Hospice Customers:

As of April 1st 2014 Medicare will require additional claim reporting for all Hospice claims.  In case you haven’t been made aware of this new regulation, Medicare will require coding for all claims after 4/1/14 for injectable and non-injectable medications as well as infusion pumps. This new requirement stipulates that the NDC code of the medication must also be sent.

I have attached an MLN Matters bulletin. Page 4 pertains to this new regulation.

Although these records can be entered in Charge Entry we strongly suggest you contact your supplier to see if they can furnish you with a spread sheet in .CSV format which can be imported into HBS. Manual data entry will require you to enter the medication as well as the 12 digit NDC code. So without a file import this will be time-consuming.

We need the following minimum data elements for billing:

1)   Patient SS# to match up the patient

2)   The NDC code for each med

3)   Date of fill

4)   Quantity

5)   Cost

6)   Type (non-injectable, infusion-pump, injectable)

If your Supplier can furnish you with this spread sheet format please forward to support@has-software.com and we will run preliminary tests to ensure its validity.
