Important message for all Hospice Billers:

It is important to run the Hospice LOC Report for previously billed months for Exceptions Found to display records that have been altered since billing was completed (for example if the Level of Care or Location of Care information had been changed). This will alert billers to claims that may need to be cancelled and resubmitted. In addition, the Clinical Import Log located under Help can be run for Warnings only to identify these records.

To All HAS Clients:

Recent releases of HBS have included the following enhancements:

  • In the System Settings>Reporting tab there is a new Close Day of Month option to allow an agency to select a "hard close" date.  When choosing a close date, the  Billing Audits, Transfers, and Payments will not be able to utilize posting dates outside of the closing date range.
  • Categories can now be inactivated in File>File Maintenance>Category so that these inactive records will no longer appear when performing a Search unless the "Show Active Only" option is not chosen.
  • Electronic NOE files can now be created in the Electronic Claims menu for submission to Medicare starting 1/1/2018. MACs will perform front-end edits on the NOE files and return the results in a 277 file. Please remember the acceptance of this data via the 277 file does not mean the NOE will pass Medicare back-end CWF edits. It is important for hospices to maintain a process that checks DDE to confirm the NOEs have been submitted and accepted within the 5-day window.
  • In the Payments menu there are new options to show Denial and Transfer information and users can now choose a date change for the Transfer All option.
  • The Electronic Payments menu has a new option to allow the user to choose a  small balance adjustment type and amount so that as payments are applied, if the A/R is less than the specified amount an additional payment will be created to zero out the A/R. This option is useful to adjust off small debit or credit amounts due to rounding differences.
  • Timely Filing Days can now be entered for an Insurance record in File>File Maintenance>Entity>Insurance Type>Insurance Tab. For example, if a payor has a 90-day timely filing requirement the user can enter that information here. The Charge Detail List has an option to include this information on the report.

Refer to Help>Release Notes to review a complete list of current and prior program changes.
